From then to now: In 1931, Hugo Richard founded the horticultural company "Hugo Richard" as a sole proprietorship in Zurich. The workshop was located in Schwamendingen on Apricot Street. In the 1970s, the horticultural company with 35 employees was moved to Kindhausen near Volketswil, where the son Walter Richard had a house with workshop and nursery built. In addition, an office for administrative work was established in Effretikon. In 1975, the horticultural company was renamed and converted into a stock corporation with the current name Richard Gartenbau AG. In 1985, the then 47-year-old Walter Richard sold the company to Jules Egli Holding from Wetzikon. In 1987 Erhard Diener joined Richard Gartenbau AG as managing director. In 1992, the office with the workshop was moved to Wetzikon in Breitistrasse at the location of Jules Egli AG. In 2009 Erhard Diener bought all shares in Jules Egli Holding. In 2011, Erhard Diener handed over the management to his son Roger, who took over the overall management of Richard Gartenbau AG. Erhard Diener is Chairman of the Board of Directors.
