OWNER AND MANAGER: MARCEL ZÜGER, Salouf, 1973 At home in nature conservation since childhood. Trained as a biologist at the ETH, worked for 10 years as a carpenter, forest guard and agricultural assistant.

At the age of 8 he kept tadpoles and documented their development. By the time he was 10, he knew he wanted to be a biologist. As a teenager, he spent his nights in amphibian ponds researching bats. He helped build ponds and maintain abandoned steep slopes.

Practical impact in the landscape has always counted for him. Doing instead of complaining. While in college, he took the woods course and mapped dragonflies, fish, and birds for ecological agencies.

Realizing that this could not be done without political support led him to the Grand Council at age 25, and two years later he became a vice ambassador for his community.

After holding various positions, he founded Pro Valladas in 2014. The slogan "Planning by Practitioners - Practicing with the Mind" really says it all. He loves nature with all his heart, but is not an eco-romantic.

On the chainsaw and on the pole mower or on the tractor, he is always thinking about how to improve maintenance. It is driven by a combination of use and maintenance, effective and inexpensive.
