Köppel Natursteine AG (Au SG)

We - the company Köppel Natursteine AG - are a family business in the third generation. We now employ 10 people and train apprentices in the field of stonework and in the commercial sector. We offer first-class craftsmanship combined with creativity and the latest manufacturing techniques. We take customer wishes very seriously and implement them perfectly. It is our concern to inspire you as a customer of our work. We would be happy to show you our wide range of possibilities with natural stone.

Timeline

1903 The trained sculptor Johann Köppel opens a sculpture studio in the barn of his parents' house.

1910 Builds his own house with workshop at Bahnhofstrasse 13 in Widnau.

1943 Son Hans Köppel becomes a business partner. Expansion of the sole proprietorship and acquisition of new machinery.

1966 Move to the new location in Rietstrasse in Widnau. Purchase of the first automatic stone milling machine. In the same year, the nephew Max Frei joins the business and thanks to his experience, the entry into the construction industry begins.

1981 Hans Köppel partially retires from the business. Handover of the "Finished Work" division to his nephew Max Frei. At the same time, Ferdinand Hutter joined the company and learned the natural stone industry from scratch.

1988 Hans Köppel hands over the company to his son-in-law Ferdi and his daughter Vreni Hutter. New investments make it possible to offer a wide range of products. This means that the most diverse areas of the natural stone industry can now be covered. Impulses and ideas from Ferdinand Hutter will from now on continuously produce new, innovative products.

1995 Acquisition of the first CNC machine.

2008 Son Michael Hutter joins the business and learns to be a stone worker. Thanks to his first completed training as a polymechanic, the know-how in the CNC area can be expanded again.

2009 The move to the new location in Au on Rosenbergsaustrasse is pushed forward with great vigor. The new building offers a lot of space and an optimal infrastructure. A new 5-axis CNC machine is purchased.
