Hofmann Gebr. Gartenbau AG (Aesch BL)

Once upon a time

Josef Hofmann-Krüsselin was born in 1859. He was the founder of today's company Gebr. Hofmann Gartenbau AG in Aesch / BL.

In 1896 Josef Hofmann-Krüsselin bought a nursery at Binninger Straße 110 in Allschwil. He was a proven vegetable gardener who also carried out garden maintenance, but due to the small size of the company he did not create any new plants. His son Karl Hofmann was born in the same year. As a young boy he met the German Katharina Lili, whom he also married at the age of 27. Karl also learned gardening and earned his journeyman years at home and abroad.

In 1928, Karl Hofmann took over his parents' business and, like his father, continued to run it, planting vegetables and tending gardens. His sons Paul, Franz and Heinz Hofmann were born between 1925 and 1931.

From 1954, the three sons took over the business and the rest of the company as a partnership.

Hofmann Bros. Horticulture Moves The three brothers changed businesses and did more gardening and maintenance work. In 1956 the company was moved from Allschwil / BL to Aesch / BL, this decision was made for space reasons.
