Kolb Jurij (Uster)

Jurij Kolb has been working as a freelance sculptor, three-dimensional designer, performer and exhibition organizer with his own studio in Uster since 1990. During this time many stone works were created and the material stone always forms an important basis for his creative work. The comparison and combination of stone and other materials such as metal, glass, wood and paper as well as plastic and textiles are of great interest to his work. In this field of tension, the sometimes completely contradictory materials, Jurij Kolb searches for answers to everyday events and tries to treat these sometimes moving topics in a differentiated and critical way. It is extremely important to him to bring together sculpture as fantasy and space as reality, and this with a great longing for lightness and poetry, also as a counterpoint to the heaviness of stone.

During this time he was also instrumental in the design, organization and implementation of three exhibitions, "SehBäume" in Küssnacht / ZH, 2003, as well as the exhibitions "Auf & Abklär", 2012, "Ridge Walk", 2014 and "FreiStil" "2017, cultural movement Landauf-Bachab. As co-initiator of landauf-bachab and as president of the association of the same name, he is currently involved in art and culture as well as in his own projects.

Since 2004 he has been teaching at the vocational school in Uster in the class for design, print & culture. During this time, he expanded the design classes into a contemporary offering and also created an offering for particularly talented students with the introduction of a design preparation course.
