Winkler Richard Naturgärten (Wängi)

Max is coming too Maike and Moritz Schönwetter live in a terraced house on the outskirts of the city. After his early retirement, Moritz has time to devote more time to his brother Max, who is ten years younger and lives in a residential group for people with disabilities. They spend many hours together in the garden, at happy family gatherings, but also quietly observing the dragonflies on the pond and the chirping birds in the hedges.

Green screens Instead of the previous lawn, the residents wanted generous seating areas and secluded retreats. To create different rooms in the garden, designer Peter Richard used room dividers in the form of softly cut wild shrub hedges. The plant composition "Siebenschön" was cultivated in a tree nursery over a period of two years. A special feature is that the potted woody plants can be put together like a puzzle. Densely branched and intergrown, they combine native wild shrubs and ornamental shrubs that are eye-catchers and insect magnets in spring. On the way through the show garden, they ensure that the area is never completely visible. And they arouse curiosity about what may lie around the next bend.

Contrasts and security For the lively Maike, a place to sit and celebrate with her family and friends was important. Her favorite spot is the wooden deck, shaded by an imposing bird cherry. Moritz appreciates the quieter corners of the garden: the pergola by the fountain and the patio basket by the swimming pond. His brother Max is also fascinated by the element of water. The two often sit together at the edge of the pond, dangle their legs in the water, and observe everything that is crawling and flitting. In the evening, when all the guests have left, Maike and Moritz make themselves comfortable on the XXL "Romeo & Julia" bench. In the protection of the curved hedge, they enjoy the time of togetherness and review the day.
