The cementitious joint Cementitious grouting is not resistant to acids. The joint is attacked by a long exposure time to the cleaning agent. It becomes porous and cracked. Through such cracks, water can get behind the covering and possibly cause water damage over the years.

The silicone joint The silicone joint is elastic and soft, it absorbs movements and tensions in the substrate up to a certain extent. If the movements become too great, it will crack. Even small cracks can cause damage over time.

Unfortunately, these joints are also susceptible to fungus. Soap residues, dander and high humidity are ideal bases that these fungi can form.

Our tips

• Wet the cement joints well before cleaning with the shower spray. The joint is soaked with water and thus absorbs the acids less.
• Do not leave the cleaning agent on for too long. It is better to apply the agent directly to the cloth and rub the surfaces by hand.
• After showering, scrape the wall covering with a rubber scraper; this generally reduces the formation of lime on the tiles.
• Keep the silicone joints as dry as possible. After showering, wipe with a cloth.
