ABOUT ME Andreas Urfer, sculptor Already as a small child I was interested in working with natural materials - how to create something beautiful and individual out of inconspicuous things - and so I was soon carving sandstone figures, carving and collecting fossils. Over the years, my childhood enthusiasm grew into the desire to make artistic design my profession. I completed the preliminary course at the School of Design in Lohn, Schaffhausen and then began training as a stone sculptor at the Swiss Sculpture School in Müllheim, Thurgau. After completing the apprenticeship, I worked for several years in the sculptor studio of Pedro Steiner in Illnau, Zurich. Since 2011 I have been working independently for larger companies in eastern Switzerland and run my own small workshop. In my spare time, I teach stone sculpting courses for young people, continue my education and pass on my knowledge and enthusiasm for craftsmanship to my two children.
